Mrs. Bershee and Mrs. Provansal can help you with SAT and ACT information, exam fee waivers, Cal State and UC applications, financial aid, scholarships, letters of recommendation and more. Southern Utah University Meeting on Oct. 6

Looking for a college that is close to home, but not too close? How about one that offers courses in skiing and rock climbing? Or one that gives scholarships to out of state students? How about one that plays in March Madness every year? There will be an informational meeting 1st period this Friday, in room 303, for anyone interested in going to Southern Utah University. All students who attend the meeting will have their registration fee waved. Mar'Jeanie was accepted to SUU last year with a $10,000 scholarship, don't miss out on this opportunity!

When do I take the SAT and/or ACT test?

In 11th grade, preferably in the spring. If you don’t like your score, retake the exam again in summer or early fall of your 12th grade year. Do I need to study for the test? YES!! Deadline for SAT is Oct. 5 or Nov. 21

Deadline to register for the Nov. 4 SAT is Oct. 5, 2017. Deadline for the Dec. 2 SAT is Nov. 21, 2017! http://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/register

Deadline for ACT is Sept. 22 and Nov. 3

Deadline for the Oct. 28 ACT is Sept. 22. Deadline for the Dec. 9 ACT is Nov. 3. http://act.org 

Deadline to sign up for PSAT is Sept. 21

You can now sign up to take the PSAT exam. The test will be given on October 25 in the MPR and the cost is $16. You can pay online at our webstore or at CIMS in the student store. If you qualify for free or reduced lunch sign up for a fee waiver with Ms. Provansal in the career center during lunch or after school in the counseling office. Don't miss out, the deadline to sign up is Sept. 21. 

Free SAT Prep

Are you a high school student who needs to prepare for the SAT exam? Are you interested in seeing sample questions or taking a practice test? If so, sign up for free SAT prep with Khan Academy. Research shows that students who study for the SAT see a 115-point average score increase over students who don't prepare themselves. Sign up today at khanacademy.org/sat

 UC Personal Interest Questions Workshop

For seniors planning to apply to any UC schools, consider attending the Personal Interest Question workshop being hosted by the counselors on Monday, October 2nd during 3rd period. Bring a copy of your draft responses with you for editing and revising. If you would like to attend, RSVP by signing up in the counseling office.
