Victor Valley Union High School District is offering six $400 scholarships to seniors intending to pursue the field of education at a community college or university.

One student from each high school selected by the VVUHSD “Teaching the Future” Scholarship Committee.


1. Applicant must be a current VVUHSD student

2. Applicant must be a graduating high school senior in the year of the award

3. Applicant must have good attendance – may not have more than 10 absences in the school year

4. Applicant must be interested in pursuing a career in education and has had experience working with children in an educational setting.

Application Process:

Applicant must submit the following items:

1. Completed application form (please print legibly)

2. Letter of recommendation from an educator (teacher, counselor or administrator) who knows you well and is recommending you to be a future innovative teacher.

3. High school transcript (most recent - from Counseling office).

4. Attendance report (this year - from Attendance office).

5. Discipline report (senior year only - from Discipline office)

6. Personal Essay – In your essay, please answer the writing prompt below.

Essay Criteria:

● Typed, 12 font in Times New Roman

● 400-500 words

● Black Ink

● Standard 5-paragraph essay format with minimal grammatical and spelling errors.

Writing Prompt:

How will you be an innovative educator teaching the future?

Application deadline: Monday April 15, 2019
