The Tom Joyner Foundation has partnered with Denny’s Corporation for the 7th year to support the Denny’s Hungry for Education Scholarship Program. Nine (9) deserving students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) will be selected and receive a $2,000.00 scholarship from Denny’s and the Tom Joyner Foundation. One (1) three thousand one hundred twenty five dollar ($3,125) stipend will be awarded to the HBCU with the best program implementation to combat childhood hunger. The program is part of Denny’s national initiative to end hunger. The program starts September 1, 2018. The program ends December 1, 2018.

Each candidate will submit a form about their program including an essay using the topic, “Describe an idea for a community hunger program to combat childhood hunger in their HBCU communities”. The nine (9) recipients will be required to submit a ninety (90) second video to further explain the program. A faculty/staff representative from the chosen HBCU will mentor the student during the implementation of the program. The student must submit a written report once the project is running, including pictures, videos, and related social media content. There may be additional opportunities, at Denny’s discretion.
